I promised yesterday I would bring you the Lyric dress.. here she is! In all her animal print glory! With big bold buttons and a DIY belt! Remember that Love Notions is having a 50% sitewide move-in celebration sale and today is the last day! So if you feel inspired and you want to grab this pattern, now is the time! Of course make sure to fill up your cart because this is a very rare sale! Now let’s talk about the Lyric pattern.

Options
- Peplum top
- Knee length dress
- Midi length dress
*Flared skirt with optional slash pockets
*Gathered skirt with optional patch pockets

I Went for the midi length dress with flared skirt and pockets of course! I can’t resist slash pockets.. I love slash pockets because the construction allows them to stay put. I hate the other kind of pockets that flop around if they are not attached at the waist. I also love where the dress hits me just below my knees. I had to shorten the bodice 1 inch – very standard alteration for me and I did a ½” sway back adjustment, another common adjustment for me that I later realised was not necessary for this pattern. Oops! I made one change to the bust darts by angling them ⅜” upward. I also did a sort of petite adjustment taking out length between the shoulders and bust but pivoting so that the length only came out from the armscye and the neckline remained unchanged. Nothing there is a crazy alteration for me and I am really happy with the fit I achieved. On to sizing…
Sizing
- 0-24
- 4 Cup sizes A-D
I Made size 12 C. I fell sort of between the 12 and 14 but since I was using a stretch cotton sateen I went with the 12. Had I been using a non stretch woven, I would go either for the 14 and grade down to the 12 at the waist or I would make the 12 D instead. My mock up was made from stretch cotton sateen to match my final fabric so if I were to use a non stretch woven next time, I’d make another mock up on similar fabric just to be sure. Better safe than sorry! Nobody wants a gaping bust!

Sleeve Options
- Sleeveless
- Short
- Flutter
- Bell
- 2 lengths of bishop

My dress is sleeveless actually not by choice. I am not really a fan of sleeveless since I’ve added weight to my arms but I got the end of the bolt and since I was cutting a belt, I had to forego sleeves. I was not about to give up my belt.. I love the way a belt cinches the waist on this dress and I really wanted to use this special heart buckle since I am celebrating my 5th wedding anniversary today! Red heels also speak love don’t they?

Since we’re on the topic of love, I am totally sharing the love with a giveaway! All you have to do is let me know in the comments which Love Notions pattern you would pick if you win! Feel free to enter on Instagram and Youtube as well! The giveaway will end on Monday August 3rd at 11:59pm est.

Now I am off in my Lyric to go have anniversary lunch with the hubster! I just love leopard print with red accessories and the heart belt is the perfect compliment for the occasion. If you want to see how I made my belt, make sure to check out my Youtube video. Also if you haven’t seen yesterday’s post yet, I made 2 gorgeous Sybil Illusion skirts, one twirl worthy and the other casual and chill. Enough rambling.. it’s a very special weekend for me so I am totally disappearing off the radar for a few days. Catch you guys later!

Haha! Thank you so much Cynthia!
It’s hard to decide but I would either pick the Sabrinas or the Rockford raglan.
All your makes are beautiful!
Author
Thank you so much! Sabrinas are on my list… I am yet to perfect pants!
I love this! I have the Lyric pattern, and now I think I’m going to find something stretchy to use for it. If I won a free pattern, I’d get the Duet trousers. They’re an ambitious project for me, but I’d love to have pants that really fit well.
Happy anniversary!
